Integrating an Incongruous Heirloom

In this weekend home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the owners wanted to house their ancestor portraits but worried about integrating that into the 18th century cabin. We played up the rustic and bucolic nature with the rest of the art and integrated the exotic outlier by means of a floral chintz upholstery on the sofa that bridged the two styles.
